Burleigh Pavillion

Located in the gorgeous Burleigh, this place is situated quite literally on the beach so you can come straight off the sand, prop the surfboard up, and grab a drink and pizza on the terrace. The Pavillion has become quite the hotspot since opening, and with DJ sets on the weekend, great cocktails, amazing beach views, and an even better atmosphere it’s not hard to see why! We recommend grabbing a drink and watching the sunset with some good company and then staying back for dinner to really feel like a local.

The Collective
Situated on the Gold Coast Highway in a former post office, The Collective features five separate restaurants and two bars. As if that wasn’t enough, the venue decided to throw in an epic rooftop space too. The buzzing, industrial inspired area is definitely worth the visit. There is nothing better than kicking back with a rose sangria or espresso martini in-hand, full-wait service on demand and a kick-ass view of the Gold Coast skyline in front of you.

The Island Rooftop
If you thought Surfers Paradise was restricted to Schoolies, drunken uni nights and tacky arcades, you’ve obviously never been to The Island Rooftop. This rooftop bar is smack-bang in the middle of the tourist hub, yet oozes with vintage Californian style. With comfy couches, communal tables, festoon lighting and lush plants, this might just be the closest you’ll ever get to feeling like a celebrity. The hidden gem also has a growing reputation for it’s epic Sunday sessions, which regularly host Australian and international names.

Nineteen at The Star
You’ll need to don your Sunday best for an evening at Nineteen at The Star. Sitting on the top floor of the The Star casino, it’s one of the most exclusive and glamorous venues on the GC. From the balcony, you’ll have a front row seat to the Pacific Ocean and you might even be lucky enough to spot a whale passing by. Back inside, you can choose between testing your skills on the expansive dance floor or kicking back on the velvet couches.

Justin’s Rooftop at Justin Lane
Justin Lane has amassed somewhat of a cult following on the GC – and for good reason too. The pizzeria and bar was one of the first venues in the region to open a rooftop bar, and the crowds have been flocking there ever since. Justin’s Rooftop has the vibe of an inner-city Melbourne bar, but is only a hop, skip and a jump from the iconic Burleigh Headland. No visit to this grungy hotspot is complete without a Passionfruit and Chilli Tequila cocktail.

Gotham Grill and Rooftop Bar
Calling all the Marvel nerds out there… Gotham Grill and Rooftop Bar has your name all over it. You might not actually find Batman at the Manhattan-inspired destination, but the art deco styling, leather doors, red velvet carpet and spiral staircase will feel like you’ve been transported into the Hollywood blockbuster. Prepare to feast on opulent NY style food and drink – this is one for the taste buds.

Frida Sol
Picture this – You’re sitting with your buddies and surrounded by chic modern mex decor. You’ve got a cauliflower taco with pickled onion and cilantro crema in one hand and a brimming glass of margarita in the other. Sounds like heaven, right? You can have all that and more at the GC’s shiniest new Mexican bar – Frida Kahlo.

Mr P.P’s Deli and Rooftop
Located on the site of the former Postmaster general headquarters, Mr P.P’s Deli and Rooftop Bar serves their menu with a side of rich history. The rustic venue is littered with drawings, songs and poems written by the original Postmaster, who was known for being an actor, playwright, poet, photographer and illustrator, more than a century ago. If you can drag yourself out of the history trance for long enough, we suggest tucking into the parmesan truffle fries or treating yourself to a classic pizza.

Wildernis Cafe and Bar
Wildernis Cafe and Bar is the place to go if you’re looking to ease yourself into the night in style. Entering through a secret laneway, you’ll find a rooftop heaven only metres from the shores of Palm Beach. The GC’s balmy weather means that you can sit under the retractable roof enjoying a cheese board or good ol’ Espresso Martini year round. It’s a winner in our eyes.
